World Sports Day
On Monday 25th June a number of girls in Year 9 were asked to attend a World Sports Day event at Harrow School.
We arrived at school early and were divided up into the different teams/countries that we were going to be in during the day. I was a member of team Ethiopia which consisted of me and Rebecca from St. Helen’s. Our other team mates were waiting for us at Harrow.
When we got to Harrow School, we were surprised by how many people were attending the event. We went into our teams which consisted of many different people from different schools. Each team was clearly distinctive as each country had a different coloured t-shirt on. Almost immediately I made friends with my team mates; everybody was so nice and friendly and everyone in my group got along really well.
As we began to compete in all of the various activities set out for us, my team mates and I began to interact more with each other, and a huge amount of teamwork was needed. Each activity was equally as fun as the others. The activities consisted of Dodgeball, Volleyball, Athletics, Frisbee and team/solo events, including a bucking bull machine which we had to stay on for as long as we could!
The day was one of the most exciting days of my life, and I hope a similar event will take place soon. At the end of the day, my team mates and I all found it exceedingly hard to part with one another, for we had all become good friends.
