Young Enterprise gives Year 12 students the opportunity to create and run a real organisation. Girls take on different roles within their company including Managing Director, Company Secretary, Finance, Marketing and Production Directors and learn, through doing, how to run meetings, create ideas, innovate products and account for their decisions.
Each company benefits from the guidance of a business mentor and must develop a product or service, market and promote it, and manage the company’s finances, selling shares and trading with the public. Companies compete against each other for regional and national awards, including ‘company of the year’.
The programme provides girls with a huge range of skills including creative thinking and problem solving, communication and presentation skills, teamwork and leadership, negotiation and decision-making, and time management.
