School Council

The School Council holds meetings throughout the year to discuss any important issues arising and how the school might be developed and improved.

It is a wonderful opportunity to represent the school in not only doing things to help the school, but helping the wider community. For example, the Christmas Hamper project gets the whole school involved in helping the less privileged. The School Council has, more recently, been involved in reviewing the Reward System and is, at present, thinking about ways that the school's Virtual Learning Environment can perhaps be improved.

Year 13 students have the opportunity to stand as School Council Reps, collecting ideas from the school and helping to make decisions as to which ideas are most feasible, and helping to see through the implementation of any new schemes and ideas, as well as organising and chairing Council meetings

Some of the comments made by past Year 13 School Council Reps include:
'Running the School Council is a lot of fun, hard work, but extremely satisfying.'

'You build good relationships not only with staff, but with pupils across all age groups.'

'It develops your leadership and teamwork skills, both qualities which can be discussed on you UCAS applications.'
