Senior School is divided into three sections. Girls in Years 7 to 9 are members of Middle School, encompassing Key Stage 3 of the National Curriculum. Upper School incorporates Years 10 and 11 and takes girls through Key Stage 4 of the National Curriculum and GCSE. The Sixth Form caters for our post-16 students and offers courses leading to AS and A2 Levels.
Girls are encouraged to take increasing responsibility for their learning as they progress through the school. Independent thinking lies at the heart of all of the teaching at St. Helen’s and takes place in the classroom through discussion, practical and creative activities and written work. Teachers encourage students to reflect on how they learn and to develop new strategies for problem solving in all areas of the curriculum. The extensive range of subjects on offer enables the girls to benefit from a broad, balanced curriculum whilst developing an awareness of where their strengths and interests lie, enabling them to build a programme of study in Upper School and the Sixth Form that is tailored around their personal ambitions and talents.
