Year 2 visit Gunnersbury Park Museum

It was an extremely exciting week for Year 2 as they went on their school trip to Gunnersbury Park Museum.

The girls looked like real Victorian children in their smocks and boaters, ready to meet Florence Nightingale, and experience life in a real Victorian kitchen. Florence Nightingale was in traditional dress and used lots of little helpers to bring her story to life. The girls loved dressing up as soldiers and nurses as they got a real feel of what life was like when Florence Nightingale was nursing. No-one wanted to have an operation without an anaesthetic! In the Victorian kitchens, the girls were shown what life was like for the scullery maids. They got a chance to help prepare some food, scrub the floor, do some washing and cleaning.  All the girls agreed that life is much easier now!
