Year 1 visit Kew Gardens
On Tuesday 18th May, the girls in Year 1 enjoyed glorious weather for their trip to Kew Gardens.
The trip really highlighted the beauty of the natural world to the girls. They learnt through play in the Climbers and Creepers area and furthered their knowledge of plants in the The Palm House. The girls were amazed by the giant lily pads and comments included: 'This is the best trip!' The girls were also thrilled to see a sculpture exhibition woven from willow, as well as a chameleon walking around one of the greenhouses.
On returning to school, the girls wrote their own detailed account of the day, describing the wide range of plants they saw and their varying uses. Some of the plants they remembered seeing included those that produce bamboo, ebony, ylang ylang, black pepper, mustard, bananas and coconut.
By all accounts, they had a fabulous day.
