St. Helen's Girls cast their vote

On Thursday 6th May, girls in Senior School and Junior School took part in a mock election.

Hustings took place in assemblies in both sections of the School, with girls representing the main political parties and putting forward their key policies. in Junior School, each Year 6 class represented one party whilst in Senior School, Sixth Form Politics students led the presentations.

The rest of the School then cast their votes in a secret ballot during the day. Junior School Council and the Year 9 Delegates in Senior School did an exceptional job of counting all the votes so that the results could be announced before the end of the day.

With a 73% turnout in Senior School and all girls in Junior School voting, the mock election prompted some lively debate and the girls certainly enjoyed drawing comparisons with the national picture.
