Exam Results

A Level and IB Results

A Level and International Baccalaureate Diploma results in 2008 were the School’s best ever.

  • A Level: 69% of results were at grade A and 90% at grade A or B, with 55% of girls achieving three A grades or better and an overall pass rate of 100%.
  • IB: 72% of results were the equivalent of a grade A at A Level; 93% were the equivalent of an A or B grade. 25% of IB students gained more than 40 points, the equivalent of more than five A grades at A Level.

At A Level, Yue Zu and Chuwen Li were amongst the top ten students in Further Mathematics, and Olivia Huang was a top ten student in Mathematics, whilst Ali Barnett and Aparajita Mudera were in the top ten in Business Studies and Economics respectively. Aparajita also achieved a Distinction in her Advanced Extension Award (AEA) in Economics, as did Claire Gatzen and Ellie Pithers in the AEA English.

A special mention must also go to Alex Hay-Plumb who gained the maximum possible score of 45 points in the IB, one of only 23 students in the UK to do so, and to Miriam Kaltz who achieved a very impressive score of 44 points.

All our Sixth Form leavers will enter Higher Education at prestigious universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.  Several are taking a gap year to travel or work in all parts of the world.  The wide variety of courses and opportunities chosen by our leavers reflects the diversity and richness of our leavers’ talents and interests.

GCSE Results

2008 GCSE results were also outstanding, with 80% of grades at A* or A, and 97% grade B or better. 40 Year 11 girls achieved straight A* and A grades.

Several girls achieved marks which put them in the top ten students nationally:
- Ava Riby-Williams achived a top ten mark in Drama out of 60,878 candidates
- Karina Jayawant and Laura Wilson were amongst the top ten highest scoring candidates out of 36,294 candidates in Art & Design
- Miriam Gordon achieved one of the top ten marks in Chemistry

Results include English, Mathematics and Science iGCSEs which are sat by all girls as we believe these exams provide the best possible preparation for the rigours of the A Level and IB Diploma courses.
