STUDENT ENRICHMENT FUND

PROJECTS SUPPORTED BY THE FUND IN 2017-2018 INCLUDE:

  1. State-of-the-art Teacher Walls in Senior School
Funds raised have supported the School to upgrade over 70 classrooms, labs and seminar rooms in Senior School with enhanced teaching walls.  Teacher walls are tailor made to suite the requirements of each classroom and are built around the provision of the latest SMART Board LED touchscreens to allow teachers to teach the way they want regardless of which room they find themselves in.   The new screens remove the need for hot and noisy classroom projectors and each teaching position has been reconfigured to best utilise the space available, incorporating new teacher desks, computer mounts, whiteboards, cupboards, shelving and the like as appropriate to the space available.
  2. Enhancing the D&T equipment available to students
Funds raised have supported the purchase and installation of a new 2D laser cutter for the D&T department. This is enabling the girls to learn more about materials and what can be achieved with them, as well as gain greater exposure to ‘real world’ manufacturing processes here at St Helen’s. This machine has already proved a valuable new resource for the D&T department and is being used in almost every lesson, every day, by all of the students; with examination classes now being able to produce higher quality projects for their assessment.
